We camped for about a week at Shenandoah National Park during the summer of 2017.  The weather was great and the park is beautiful.  The road through the park (the Blue Ridge Parkway) follows the ridgeline so most of the hiking trails go downhill first, then back up.  A real treasure was hiking to Rapidan Camp, the presidential retreat prior to Camp David.
